Buckswood pupils salute heroes

PUPILS and staff at Guestling’s Buckswood School raised £240 when they took part in National Heroes Day on Friday.

The event was organised by teacher Gary Rens and students doing the International Baccalaureate course.

Many of the junior school children arrived at school dressed as their hero/heroine and as a veritable number of sports stars and members of the armed services.

Representatives from the local police came to talk to the junior school about their work locally.

A spokesperson from the school said: “Part of the IB course requires students to do 150 hours of Creativity, Action and Service and their first Service project was organising the National Heroes Day.”
