Elderly Robertsbridge woman breaks neck in A21 crash

An 83-year-old woman from Robertsbridge suffered a broken neck in a collision on the A21 at Kent Street this morning (Monday, February 22).

She was driving a Toyota Aygo south towards Hastings when she was involved in a crash head-on with a Ford C-Max at around 8.05am.

She was cut from her car by firefighters and airlifted to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton where her condition this afternoon was described as potentially life-threatening.

The driver of the Ford, a 60-year-old woman, also from Robertsbridge, was taken to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings for treatment to neck and back injuries.

The road was closed for five hours while rescue and recovery work took place.
