Elderly woman airlifted to hospital after A21 crash

Another woman was taken to the Conquest Hospital with leg pain following the crash in Kent Street, Sedlescombe, at around 8am.

Both women were the drivers of the two cars involved.

The elderly lady was conscious but trapped in her car when emergency services arrived, and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital by the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, the Observer understands.

Two South East Coast Ambulance Service ambulances and two response cars attended the incident.

Three East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service appliances from Hastings and Battle attended and rescued both women from their cars.

Crews made the area safe and left the scene at about 9.30am.

The road is still closed from Marley Lane to the A28, causing severe delays in both directions.
