Elderly woman hurt in car crash

Police are appealing for witnesses to a car accident which left an elderly woman in hospital.

Just before 1.40pm on Wednesday (June 18), two cars were involved in a collision on the B2244, The Street, Sedlescombe.

One vehicle overturned and a woman had to be cut free by firefighters using specialist equipment.

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance was scrambled to the scene.

But after being examined by paramedics, the injured woman was taken to the Conquest Hospital, by land ambulance.

The accident involved a green Volkswagen Golf and an orange Ford Focus.

Police say they believe the Focus was stationary when the crash happened.

The road was closed and traffic diverted while the woman was rescued.

Parents of pupils attending Sedlescombe Primary School were warned to expect delays when arriving to collect their children.

Police are appealing for witnesses and urge anyone who saw what happened to phone Sussex Police on 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk, quoting serial 810 of 18/6.
