Elderly woman '˜trapped with serious injuries' after head-on crash closes A21

The A21 was closed after a head-on crash involved two cars earlier today (Wednesday, June 1) which has left an elderly woman '˜trapped with serious injuries'.

Emergency services, including the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, attended the crash near Irelands Farm, Kent Street, which happened just after 11am.

An elderly woman was believed to be trapped with serious injuries, according to police.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue appliances from Battle and Hastings were at the scene.

The main road was closed in both directions between Paygate Road in Sedlescombe and the A28 for Westfield.

Diversions was set up, with southbound traffic being sent via Marley Lane, Battle, and northbound traffic via the A2100 The Ridge West.
