ITEMS FOR THIS COLUMN: First of all a Happy New Year to all and thank you to everyone who has provided me with information during the last year. Can you make sure that if you or an organisation you are part of have an event coming up, get the details to me as early as you can, please do not leave it until a few days before the event, sometimes it can be too late. Remember, if I get the details early I can mention it more than one time which can help increase the number who attend your event. I do not mind getting the same info from several people, that is much better than not getting it at all, email is preferred because it is less prone to errors during copying but you can use any of the methods listed at the end of the column.

I do not actively seek out information to use, it is up to you to get the information to me, do not assume that I will somehow magically know about it if I have not been told about it, if in any week I do not receive any information then the column will not appear that week.

PHONE NUMBER: I have needed to change my mobile phone provider, this has resulted in a new number, so if you have tried to contact me on the old mobile number and not had a response, that is the reason. The new number is 07484 635014, during the change over I lost some of the numbers I had stored, if you know I had your number on my phone can you please text or email me your number so that I can make sure I have it in the phone.

PARISH MAGAZINE: The deadline for items for the February/March edition of the Parish Magazine is approaching. Please get your details in by 6pm on Saturday January 16, a good opportunity to publicise your list of planned events for the year, since the opening of the new halls several new groups have been formed, get your details out to those who might be interested in joining.

Advance notice for the April/May edition, the deadline will be a week earlier than usual, everything will be needed by Sunday March 6 to ensure the magazine can be printed before Easter.

Get your details to Phillipa as soon as possible 01580 819434.

FLOOD ALERTS: I am registered, on behalf of the Parish Council, with the Environment Agency to receive alerts and warnings when there is any flood risk to the village. I put the details on to the village website on this page and as updates are received I post them on the page. When the first alert or warning is received I get the details sent out on the village e-bulletin, residents with concerns can then check the website for the updated situation until the alert is lifted, I will then get a message out on the bulletin to inform everyone that the alert/warning has ended.

SPEEDWATCH SURVEY: The Speedwatch Online Survey is still open for your comments if you have not yet contributed, it will close on Sunday January 10, that will allow time for a report to be prepared for a Parish Council meeting, January will be a busy meeting so the results will be presented at the February meeting. All responses and comments received will help give an overall view of residents opinions and will help the local group with future planning, there is a link to the survey on the village website , you will find the link near the top of the Home Page.

Please feel free to pass on the link to the survey to anyone you know who might like to see it, you do not have to be an Etchingham resident to participate, if someone from another area regularly drives through the village and wants to comment we will welcome their views.

If you have any problems accessing or completing the survey, email

SENDING INFORMATION: Get information for this column to me as soon as possible. There are several ways to get your info to me, but email is preferred because there is less chance of errors during copying.
