Firefighters called to Rye school in the early hours

Firefighters were called to a school in Rye in the early hours of Sunday morning (October 28).

The fire service said crews from Rye attended a school on The Grove, Rye, at 1.38am following reports of a fire.

Crews used two breathing apparatus, CO2 and buckets of water to extinguish the fire.

Fire crews from Broad Oak were called to reports of an out-of-control bonfire on Semptead Lane, Ewhurst Green, at 5.32pm on Saturday (October 27). Crews used one hose reel to extinguish the fire.

Broad Oaks firefighters were again called into action on Sunday, alongside crews from Hastings, The Ridge and Bexhill, to reports of a fire at a residential care home on Cornfield Terrace, St Leonards.

Crews used six breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and a Positive Pressure Ventilation fan to extinguish the fire.

The fire is believed to have emanated from the basement laundry room, according to the fire service.
