SUPERSTAR Sir Paul McCartney is among those who have helped fund a major refurbishment of Peasmarsh Memorial Hall.

The improved hall will be officially opened by Antiques Roadshow glass expert Andy McConnell on Saturday October 12.

The project also had grant funding from the Big Lottery Fund, Rother District Council , Sussex Community Foundation and Nice Work.

The Jempsons Foundation also helped boost the fund-raising effort, as did Rye Bonfire Boyes.

The hall, which is widely used by local community groups, badly needed bringing up to date.

A spokesperson for the hall committee, said: “We also acknowledge the dedicated support of past and present members of Peasmarsh Parish Council, the management committee and Rother Voluntary Action.”
