Future of tourism

TOURISM businesses across Arun are being invited to make themselves part of the bigger picture by sharing their ideas about the future at a special event in Fontwell on June 27.

How does Sussex by the Sea – the tourism brand for Arundel, Bognor Regis and Littlehampton – adapt to meet the challenges of the 21st Century, exploit the ‘staycation’ trend and move forward to get a greater share of the market?

What are the views around the annual holiday brochure, tourism website and overall visitor experience when people do visit?

The event, at Fontwell Racecourse, has been organised by Arun District Council and is open to all tourism businesses across the district.

Cllr Norman Dingemans, Arun’s Cabinet Member for Economic and Cultural Development, said: “Now is a time to explore all ideas. The market is tough and we know that the competition is vast. What can we do to stand out from the crowd? Maybe the time has come to take some brave steps and look at doing things differently.

“We have organised this event to listen to those operating at the heart of the industry about what’s going on and gather their ideas about how we can move forward.

“It’s not a ‘talking shop’ but a real opportunity to speak freely and creatively and explore together where we go from here.”

The ideas and views from the event will form a report to Arun’s Cabinet in July.
