Before closing the lid on its Christmas celebrations for 2014, the Battle and District Chamber of Commerce had the happy duty at it last meeting (January 19th) of presenting awards to its Gala Night competition winners.
The competitions were judged by the Battle Town Mayor, Margaret Kilo, and the President of the Chamber, Uta Acuna. The presentations were made by a long-standing member of its Christmas Committee, Tamzin Gray.
The winner of the Mayor’s trophy for the best individual fancy dress costume was Reggie Regelous for his colourful representation of a pantomime dame. His sponsors, Gary and Avril Crawford of Fancy Pants accepted the award on his behalf.
The Chamber’s cup for the best shop-window was won by Fat Face for their simple but effective display of warm and snuggly winter wear set against a snowy background. The delighted manageress, Francesca Hamilton, accepted the prize, accompanied by two of the shop’s staff, Rebecca Jones and Monique Chapman.
The Town Council Shield for the best-dressed business was won by Battle Deli for their 1930s gangster theme.
