GALLERY: Worthing Business Awards

THE first Worthing Business Awards honoured the talent and determination of the winners.

The shortlist was wide-ranging, including new micro businesses, charity organisations and new technology gurus '“ right through to restaurants and established retailers.

And the success came from the votes of those who matter the most to them '“ their customers.

The winners

MicroBiz of the Year sponsored by Durrington Business Centre

Parklife Coffee Bar run by Mike and Beverley Corrigan.

Mike said: "We have a very strong following and this award is down to our brilliant customers.

Small Business of the Year sponsored by ProfitNet

GB Electronics, which also won the Business of the Year

Geoff Bullen, the man behind GB said: "I can't believe it."

Medium to Large Business of the Year sponsored by Chamber of Commerce

Chairman Kevin Young said he was "over the moon" with the win.

New Business of the Year sponsored by The Brand Doctor

Kay Phillips and Andy Bevis collected the award for Takeawaymenu.com.

"We are ecstatic," said Kay.

"Our manager is over in Vegas getting married so he can't be here.

"He will be so thrilled when he finds out."

Marketing and Promotion Award sponsored by Spring Marketing

Worthing Churches Homeless Project, accepted by the charity's head of PR and marketing Alison Godfrey.

New Technology Award sponsored by Northbrook College

Won by ETI Ltd, the electronics manufacturing company with owners Miriam and Peter Webb collecting the trophy.

Peter said: "It makes all the hard work worthwhile."

Customer Care Award sponsored by MGM Assurance

Education Training and Development sponsored by Worthing College

HSBC Invoice Finance.

Tourism and Leisure Award sponsored by David Lloyd Leisure.

The English Bowling Association.

Renowned bowler and CEO, Tony Allcock MBE collected the award.

He said: "It's good to be acknowledged.

The two owner chefs were busy in the kitchen on the day itself, but the award was accepted on their behalf by chef Mark Whittaker's sister Jo.

She said: "I can't wait to tell them.

"They will be so happy with this. It's such an honour."
