GCSE records tumble at St Richard's

RECORD breaking exam marks were being celebrated by St Richard's Catholic College students this morning (Thursday).

The GCSE results marked a fitting sending off for principal Tony Campbell, who is to retire in a few weeks.

The Ashdown Road school celebrated a county best of 91.23 per cent of students passing five or more GCSE's with A* to C grades.

Over 80 per cent of students passed five or more GCSE's with grades A* to C when including English and Maths.

Assistant principal Glenn Clark said: "It's not just record breaking, it's setting the standard for the whole county.

"The results are down to an enormous amount of hard work by the pupils. It is also a reflection on the hard work and dedication of our staff."

Students with exceptional results included Hamish Hiscock (12 A stars and one A), Kajtek Skowronski (nine A stars and 2 A's on the day), Ben King, (three A stars and eight A's), Andrew Stiles (six A stars and five A's) and Sarah Standen (10 A stars and 2 A's).

A host of other students received similarly impressive marks.

Mr Campbell said: "I am so delighted. I am just thrilled to be ending on such a high note with records all over the place."
