Was this year’s visit from Santa more of a No, No, No than a Ho, Ho Ho? If so, give those unwanted presents a new loving home by donating them to St Michael’s Hospice.
Chloe Dyas, from the hospice, said: “Each year thousands of unwanted Christmas presents are either put at the back of a cupboard or thrown to waste. However, the Hospice can reuse unwanted gifts to help raise valuable funds through raffles at their events during the year.
So, if three bottles of wine and four boxes of chocolates are just a few treats too many, take them to the Hospice at 25 Upper Maze Hill, St Leonards, or your nearest Hospice shop, marked for the attention of the Fundraising team.”
The hospice is still recovering from the effects of a devastating fire last year which left its St Leonards building badly damaged.
St Michael’s Hospice set up the Phoenix Campaign to help it re-open, which was widely supported throughout Hastings and Rother.
Following the fire, all in-patients are now being cared for by Hospice staff at Hastings Court where the hospice has been able to rent one and a half floors.
In December, people dressed up as Father Christmas to take part in a fund-raisiing run along Hastings seafront to help the hospice.
Children were able to choose and wrap presents for their parents, make reindeer food and pose for family photos in a snow scene at an event at the Stade Open Space.
For further information on donating presents, please contact Felicity James, Fundraising Assistant, on 01424 457959 or email@example.com.
