Grab your pencils and pens andmake your mark in the Big Draw
Hastings Arts Forum is inviting local families to come along and make their mark when it hosts The Big Draw on Saturday October 22 and Sunday 23.
The free event takes place at 36 marina, opposite the Azure, in St Leonards, from 10am - 4pm each day.
The Big Draw, initiated in 2000 by Quentin Blake, is billed as the biggest festival of drawing in the world.
Organiser John Cole said: “The festival is for families of any shape or size: children, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles - really anyone who wants to be involved in a fabulously fun day of drawing, painting and generally making a mess. Everyone is invited, whether you’re a HAF member or not. And it’s free.
“This year’s Big Draw theme is STEAM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths – emphasising the link between art, technology and design and the importance of the arts in education.
Come and experiment with a variety of exciting projects at the Arts Forum, using drawing to design a Victorian pier, a fashionable piece of clothing or anything you want to draw.
“ There are no rules and no artistic requirements; in fact the only requirement is to have fun.
“Professional artists with Big Draw experience will be on hand to encourage, help and inspire you throughout the day, as well as assisting you to create your own original artwork, which will be displayed in the Arts Forum’s galleries for a week.
“All art materials will be provided free on All you need to bring is your enthusiasm and desire and a packed lunch.”
