GREEN LIGHT FOR NEW HOMES

AN APPLICATION for a controversial housing development in Isfield has been given the go ahead by Wealden District Council.

The proposal, by award'“winning developers Millwood Homes, sought permission to build 33 homes at the village's former army camp site on Station Road.

The plans have proved contentious with many local people and at a recent parish council meeting around 70 residents made a show of strength against the proposals.

Objections were based on the influx of new houses putting a strain on the local infrastructure and a plan to build footpath across the level crossing, which many were concerned would put paid to plans to re-open the old Lewes- Uckfield railway line.
