Handbag stolen in Goring distraction burglary

Police are appealing for witnesses to a distraction burglary at a property in Aldsworth Avenue at around 5.30pm on Friday (January 10).

A man pretending to be a police officer knocked on the door of a house and told the elderly woman occupant that he was an officer and he needed to check the house.

While inside the man stole her handbag.

Detective Constable Max Lippert said: “The man is described as a white, between 35 and 40, and of stocky build. He was wearing a dark blue or green anorak, dark trousers and dark trainers.

“Any witness or anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting serial 1116 of 10/1. Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
