A motorcyclist has died in a crash today (Sunday, June 28).
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at around 10.15am on the A259 Main Road at Icklesham.
The 61-year-old Hastings man was riding a blue Triumph Legend motorcycle when it was in collision with a silver Ford Focus car on the western edge of the village.
The Kent, Surrey and Sussex air ambulance attended but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car driver, a 53-year-old man from Dartford, Kent, and his passenger, a 51-year-old woman, were taken to the Conquest Hospital, St Leonards, with minor injuries.
The A259 was closed between North Lane, Guestling Thorn, and Laurel Lane, Icklesham, for more than four hours while emergency services were at the scene.
Sergeant Neil Walker, of the road policing unit, said: “Sadly the motorcyclist involved lost his life.
“We would ask anyone who saw what happened or who noticed either vehicle being driven shortly before the collision to contact us as soon as possible.
“They can do so by emailing email@example.com or by phoning 101, quoting Operation Marwell.
“The incident meant the road between Hastings and Rye was closed to traffic for a considerable time. Motorists are thanked for their patience.”
The coroner for East Sussex has been informed.
