The steering group of Rye Community Food and Wildlife Garden is asking local people to get involved and plant up the 420 saplings donated by the Woodland Trust.
The community garden is being developed on underused allotment land alongside Love Lane.
The group is holding a Hedge Planting Day on Saturday March 14 from 11am - 3pm.
Pip Al-Khafaji said: “These are likely to be 30-40cms high – not that onerous to lift and lay.
“The Steering Group Members will have been hard at work sorting the saplings into mixed ‘lots’, each of which will be sufficient for approximately two metres of planting.
“Refreshments will be on hand to sustain and revive and we look forward to seeing as many Volunteers as possible.
The group has already planted apple trees last autumn and held a special Apple Day to mark the event.
