Help to make a night to rememberfor Sussex based children's hospice

The charity is calling upon the women of East Sussex to come together and help make every day count for every child being cared for by Chestnut Tree.

Now in its seventh year, the annual ladies-only sponsored walk will take place in Eastbourne at midnight on Saturday 14 May 2016, with four and 10 mile routes taking in the beautiful sights of Sovereign Harbour and the seafront at night.

Renowned for being a fun, friendly evening with a buzzing atmosphere, last year’s Night to Remember event saw 682 ladies from across the county walking to raise vital funds for Chestnut Tree.

One team of 25, Yodas Angels, led by Claire Brewer, raised a staggering £2150; enough to pay for an activity day for the teenagers cared for by the hospice.

“I wanted to do the walk in memory of my 15 year old daughter Courtney, who sadly fell asleep on 2 September 2014 after a 12 week battle with leukaemia.”

The event is vital in raising funds for the children’s hospice. Over the past six years 3,850 ladies have pledged a collective £454,000 in sponsorship from the event, and hopes are high that this year will boost that total.

Linda Perry, Director of Children’s Services at Chestnut Tree says: “We are aiming to double the number of children with life-shortening conditions and their families that we are caring for in East Sussex, but to do that we need to raise awareness and funds.

“We receive less than 7% of our funding from central government so we rely on fundraising events such as Night to Remember to enable us to offer our services.”

Entry is open to women aged 16 and over and includes a fundraising pack, an exclusive t-shirt, torch and medal as well as refreshments en route and breakfast on return.
