MORE than 20 restaurants and pubs have already signed up to take part in the Rye Bay Scallop Week in February.
The much anticipated festival has helped put Rye on the nation’s food map and attracts foodies from all over the country, eager to sample the local seafood delicacy.
It also helps to highlight the importance of Rye’s local fishing fleet.
The festival runs this year from Saturday 21st February - Sunday 1st March.
Organiser Oliver Campion says excitement is already building for this year’s festival and commented: “A huge number of restaurants in and around Rye have already started putting together this year’s menus.
“Webbe’s will be serving their five course taster menu which has lobster, pork belly and sea bass on offer to compliment their delightful scallop dishes.
The Landgate Bistro has three scallop dishes, as ravioli, in brioche and with bacon.
“There are some great events already appearing too including the superb Kangeroo Juice playing at the Ypres Castle Inn on Friday the February 20 with Cushty and Titus playing later in the week.”
The festival traditionally ends with the Great Rye Scallop Race from the Ship Inn.
