Hospital: How our campaign hit the spot...

DOZENS of calls, emails and letters have been sent in support of the Herald's campaign to fight the possible closure of Worthing Hospital.

Last week it was revealed that a total closure of the hospital was one of many possible outcomes of a health service shake-up in West Sussex.

Consultants from the hospital told of their disbelief after coming away from a meeting with Steve Phoenix, the transitional chief executive of the soon-to-be West Sussex Primary Care Trust, feeling complete closure was a serious option.

They have drawn up a series of battle plans to save the hospital.

MPs Peter Bottomley and Tim Loughton also praised the Herald and warned they are gearing up for the "mother and father" of a fight to save Worthing Hospital.
