Hundreds of cars make for strong show

Over 300 hundred vehicles spanning seventy years of automotive history entered the event at the Polegrove.

They were complimented by a host of stalls and displays.

Bexhill Museum gave a demonstration of how their Elva restoration project is developing. There was also a collection of privately owned and race Elvas on display.

Other highlights included 500,000 of Aston Martins displayed, cars dating back to the early 1890's and a 1909 Brush Runabout bought on Ebay.

Over 30 Smart cars were also put up for show by enthusiasts.

Competitions on the day included the 'show and shine', best custom, best classic and best commercial cars.

This year's event featured a 'drive through' strip where entrants were asked to drive and conduct brief question and answer sessions about their cars.

Motoring club chairman, 'Digger' Brodrick, said: "It's been good. You always get a few who don't turn up, but by and large the entries seem to be good.

"You do worry about the weather putting people off because the whole point of this is to make money for our charities, but people seem to have turned up.

"Hopefully we can make even more money than we have in previous years. That's the name of the game."

Proceeds will be donated to the East Sussex Disability Association, Bexhill Caring Community, the MS Society and Homecall.
