I'm pretty sure it fell off the car roof somewhere near where I live. So if you have found a red purse/wallet. It could be mine. Moral '“when rushing out already late for an appointment, do not put anything on the car roof and then drive away.

CHURCH NEWS: The 9.30am Parish Eucharist will be led by Fr. Barry Carter. The Harvest supper was fun, and everyone seemed to enjoy the change of menu to fish and chips. During the week the commemoration of Luke the Evangelist falls in Thursday 18th . Luke, a Greek physician and companion of St. Paul, was the author of the third gospel and the Acts of the Apostles. His feast day often coincides with a short spell of fine weather, “St. Luke’s little summer”

WEATHER: The leaves are really beginning to fall now, some of them gloriously crimson or yellow. The day time sunshine may still be warm, but as soon as the sun sets. the temperatures plummet. I still have some beautiful roses out and chrysanthemums are thinking about flowering. Even the birds are beginning to return to the gardens from wherever they have been during the summer. Has anyone any suggestions for keeping crows and magpies off the bird feeders? The little birds don’t have a chance. I would much rather watch the tits’ antics than chase great heavy black birds off the feeders.

WINCHELSEA ARTS: The next concert in the fourth series will be a piano recital given by Fiacra Garvey, who will play music by Brahms, Field, Chopin and Rachmaninov. Tickets are £14 - £7 under 18s from Winchelsea Farm Kitchen.

OPERA AT WINCHELSEA: Opera South East presents Baroque Opera, costumed and candlelit, with works by Purcell, Monteverdi, Gay, Handel and Telemann. The performance will be conducted by Kenneth Roberts and directed by Karen McInally with the voices of Lucy Ashton, Marina Ivanova and Jack Smith , and the members of the Opera South East Chorus, accompanied by Baroque Strings and the Fipple Consort. The event takes place in St. Thomas’ on Tuesday 23rd October at 7.30 pm. Tickets cost £15 and are available at Winchelsea Farm Kitchen and at the door.

QUEEN’S HEAD: The live music on Sunday will be played by the Martin Black Band, starting to play at 4 pm.

SCHOOL NEWS: After a couple of weeks without any news, we are back again. Last week Mrs. Robinson and Mrs. Cullingworth went to London to present the Curious Curriculum to research colleagues. Linda Kaser and Judy Halbert have created the Spirals of Inquiry research model which they have developed around the world. They hope to visit Icklesham to see the curriculum in action. The Business Ambassadors, Pearl, Mia and Leo, went to Hastings last week, and visited the Stables Theatre, the Shipwreck Museum, and Rock-a-Nore Fisheries. Apart from tasting Marsh Samphire, they enjoyed learning about Hastings Old Town. The Macmillan Coffee Morning raised £208.85. Well done and thank you. The Head teacher’s awards this week go to Bear Class, Ellie and Frazer; Orangutan Class, Michael K; Panther Class, Elliot; and Python Class, Lauren. Class awards for good work go to, Bear Class, Ava and Finley; Orangutan Class, Betty and Gabriel; Panther Class, Will and Harry; and Python Class, Eve and Jorja. The Politeness Award goes to Shaiden and Bevan in Orangutan Class; The caretaker was best pleased with Orangutan Class, and they also won the attendance award. House points go to Church House. Well done everybody. Next Friday, 19th is Jungle Book Dress Up Day, with a Disco from 3.30 – 4.30 pm and also the last day of Term 1.
