Icklesham village voice

Sunday 10 June 10.30 Parish Eucharist.

Last weekend All Saints was beautiful with an amazing display of flowers. The collection of photographs, pictures, descriptions and registers gave an absorbing insight into Icklesham in the last 60 years. Everybody involved in all this deserves congratulations and a big thank you.

Saturday 16 June - 2pm the monthly Church Market with its usual opportunities for purchasing refreshments, cakes and plants and having a chat with a neighbour or a visitor.

A few things went wrong in last week’s Voice so I apologise to you all.

The Sports Clubs would like to thank everybody that supported the Open Meeting to discuss proposals for our pavilion held on 15 May.

It was agreed by an overwhelming majority that the village would support a complete new build. The Clubs like to encourage youth development, therefore if any of you would like to play football, stoolball or cricket our contact details are in the Parish Magazine which is available from the Icklesham Village Store.

The Icklesham Players have lost their hardest working and much loved member with the passing of Joan Baker. For over 30 years she worked her socks off as an actress, singer, producer and costume mistress, keeping the Players together and always managing to find the right person for the right job when things seemed doomed to fail. Failure was not in Joan’s vocabulary and her hard work has left the Players in good shape.

The forthcoming production ‘’The Woman in White’’ which has been written and directed by Janet Kates, is being dedicated to Joan’s memory and money from the production will be sent to St Michael’s Hospice in her name.

The play, a mystery thriller, will be on from Thursday 14 to Saturday 16 June at 7.30 in the Memorial Hall. will be a licensed bar for all three performances as well as a raffle. So do book your tickets soon to ensure a healthy amount to the hospice. You can get your tickets at Icklesham Village Store or by calling Nicky on 01424 812996 and have them put aside.

Next Monday 11 June the Patient Participation Groups have a Tea Party 2-4pm at the Ferry Road Health Centre Rye in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care to which all are welcome.
