IT'S SIT AND DRINK AT THE DOME, SAYS DEVELOPER

THE local businessman responsible for new developments at the Dome Cinema on Worthing's seafront has hit back at claims it will become a 'vertical drinking' venue.

Mark Flatman, from Goring, said the cafe on the ground floor would have a licence to serve alcohol but its prime focus would be serving food, while the function rooms upstairs would be used for pre-booked events only.

Mr Flatman, who is investing more than 200,000 with his business The Dome Catering Company, said there had been discussions with Worthing's licensing officer and the police and there would not be any 'vertical drinking' at the Dome.

"It will not become a beachfront bar where people can stand and drink," he said.

Mr Flatman, who has been in the catering industry for 19 years, also dismissed claims that the Dome would become another seafront bar and restaurant complex.
