Charity For Kids has reached a five year milestone of helping children in the Hastings and Rother area.
The charity was established in 2011 to provide help for disabled, sick and terminally ill children and their families.
In that time they have over 140 children and their families with everything from specialised wheelchairs and walking frames to therapeutic hot tubs and garden landscaping.
Paul Harris, Founder and CEO of Charity for Kids, said: “As we enter our fifth year we continue to look to support local children in need in the Hastings and Rother area.
“We also have a respite facility at Crowhurst Park in the form of a fully adapted and furnished caravan, which we would love to see used more by families who are looking for a break.”
Paul said, of founding the charity, My wife and I are fortunate to have 3 healthy girls, so I wanted to help those less fortunate than us and I also wanted to keep the funds local.
More than 180 local people have been raising money for the charity by taking part in a series of fun runs throughout the year. Their efforts raised £5,500 for Charity For Kids last year.
The final event of the year was a five mile run along Hastings seafront on December 27.
Chris Hawkes, owner of Born Ready Fitness, said: “I had the idea to run as many miles for money as we could in 2015.
“I am amazed how many people have taken part, and a big call out to them all including Paul McCleery who topped the table with over 1,000 miles.”
Jay Wootten, Chairman of Charity for Kids said ‘Our thanks goes to Chris for spearheading this challenge and thank you to all who donated miles and monies to support us. The applications we receive generally average at £1,500 so this amount will go to support those children in need in the Hastings and Rother area’
Charity for Kids is run by a group of volunteers who host a range of fundraising events throughout the year.
