Launch of three-year crime plan

Anti-social behaviour will be the focus of Arun's new three'“year crime reduction plan which was formally launched on Monday.

Cllr Roger Elkins, Chairman of the Arun Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership and District Commander Chief Inspector Brian Bracher launched the Arun Crime and Disorder Reduction Strategy who said they hope to build on the work of the past three years.

The partnership, which includes district, parish and town councils, police, fire and rescue and probation has received just over 190,000 plus another 95,000 from the Home Office, most of which will be spent on PCSOs and helping prevent crime.

Other priorities include reducing public place violent crime, domestic thefts and working with vulnerable groups such as people suffering from domestic violence and reducing the number of prolific offenders who account for 50 per cent of all crime.

The partnership is aiming to cut crime by eight per cent through prevention, intervention, enforcement and witness and victim support and continuing with existing schemes such as community wardens and the arson reduction strategy.
