Lions' fundraising goes towards sensory lighting for Fordwater School's new pool

A fundraising and awareness day organised by the Chichester Lions group was a roaring success.

A street collection raised more than 450 which will go towards buying sensory lighting for Fordwater School's new therapy pool.

The day was also a chance for Lions members to chat to shoppers and other members of the public about the wide range of projects the charity takes part in both nationally and internationally.

Lions members from across the area including Selsey, Midhurst, Bognor Regis and Southbourne chatted to shoppers, and Chichester member Tony Harrison donned a costume of a lion for the day.

Lions member Corina Hall said: "It was a successful day, people were very interested in what we are doing and we gave away about 500 balloons with the Lions emblem on them.

"We got a lot of people from Fordwater School saying what a marvellous job we were doing for them which was really nice."

The Lions' next major event will be on Saturday when it holds its annual model railway exhibition at Chichester High School for Boys.
