Littlehampton pool players’ challenge aims to help ill children

KIND-HEARTED pool players will be pushing themselves to their limits this week all to help grant the wishes of terminally ill children and their families.

Members from the Littlehampton and District World Rules Pool League (LDWRPL) have united to take part in 24-hour, non-stop, pool marathon, starting this Saturday (August 4), to raise funds for local charity, Jamie’s Wish.

The gruelling, day-long event is the brain-child of the league’s secretary, Richard Milburn and Littlehampton player, Jeff Roddis.

As Richard explained, the pair were inspired to do what they can for Jamie’s Wish following a short film by the charity, shown at a recent presentation evening they both attended.

“I spoke with Jeff after the presentation at the football club where both our boys play and the idea was born there, really,” he said.

The marathon will take place at the White Hart pub, in Surrey Street, Littlehampton, a place where both men regularly play pool.

Richard added that the charitable challenge was rapidly gathering a head of steam to it and that more people were welcome to join them.

“We are desperate to help this local charity and all donations, however small, will be gratefully accepted. Come on down and show your support,” he said.

The event kicks off on Saturday, from 11am and will finish the following morning. For information, call 07533 108573 or email [email protected]
