Magic of Wick Week is ready for take-off

Tomorrow’s event (Saturday, July 26) will see this year’s Wick Week bonanza beginning. And with dozens of events promised, the Gazette is giving a run-down to some of the highlights.

Saturday:

n Hour-long archery taster sessions will be taking place from 10am until 5pm at the Scout Hall, in Linden Park.

It costs £6 per hour. Pre-booking is essential. To book, call 07799 171565.

n Peace in the Park will be taking place on Heo Green and at the Keystone Centre from 10am. There will be demonstrations, a penalty shoot-out, inflatables and live entertainment. A pet show will kick-off at noon and the New Highfields Residents’ Group will be holding their own barbecue.

Monday:

n The Wick Week Café and Summer Fayre will be opening at the Nautical Training Corps’ HQ, in Wick Farm Road, from 9am until 1pm. Refreshments and gifts will be on offer. Children can also enjoy face-painting and glitter tattoos.

n The Littlehampton Academy will be holding a week-long football school for seven to 11-year-olds. It will take place from 9am until noon and costs £15 for the week. Call 07834 223001.

n A cooking workshop is taking place at the Keystone Centre, in Eldon Way, between 10am and 1pm. There are two free sessions to help families improve their cooking techniques. For details, call 07766 900061.

n Wick Information Centre is holding a discussion into how the First World War affected the area, from 10am until noon. For details, call 01903 734759.

n Children aged five to 12 are invited to join free play sessions in Water Lane from 2-4pm every day. There will be sports, arts and crafts, inflatables. Adults must accompany under-eights.

n From 2-4pm there will be a First World War tea party at Wick Hall, in Wick Street.

n Activities for young people aged 11-18 are taking place at the Keystone Centre, in Eldon Way, from 4-6pm. For details, call 01903 739250.

n Project 82 Youth Club, in Wick Street, is running from 6.30-8pm for children aged ten to 14.

n There will be Zumba for adults at Wick Hall, from 7-8pm. Tickets are £5.
