Man appeals for return of gold ring lost in town centre

A BATTLE man has appealed for the return of a gold ring which was lost in the town centre last week.

Mark Blackman’s father lost the ring somewhere between the Market car parks and Martin Oaks Surgery in High Street, Battle, last Friday evening (May 10).

The cygnet ring, engraved with the initials WB, has great sentimental value to the family.

A reward is available for the safe return of the missing ring.

Mr Blackman, of St Mary’s Lawn, Battle Hill, told the Observer: “Unfortunately my father lost a heavy gold ring, cygnet type with the initials WB, on Friday 10 May somewhere between the Market Car park and Martins Oak Surgery between 6–7pm.

“The ring originally belonged to my grandfather who lived and ran his coal business in Battle and was handed on to my father.

“My dad has lived and worked all his life in Battle and believes that with the help of others that the ring may be found.”

Mr Blackman added: “The ring has huge sentimental value and we would be very grateful if anyone has found it, could they kindly return it please.

“My Dad would be happy to pay a reward upon its safe return.”

Anyone who has found the missing ring is asked to return it to the Blackman family or hand it in to Battle Police Station. Alternatively, contact the Battle Observer on 01424 856783 and we will pass your details on.
