Man remanded after Julian Gardner court hearing

A KENT man has been remanded in custody after facing court in connection with the murder of businessman Julian Gardner at Robertsbridge in October last year.

Marcus Bristow, 31, of Mock Lane, Ashford, appeared at Hastings Magistrates Court on Thursday (June 9) facing charges of conspiring to commit burglary and conspiring to pervert the course of justice.

No plea was taken.

Magistrates heard lengthy arguments from the Crown Prosecution Service and a barrister defending Bristow as to why he should be either remanded in custody or released on bail.

Eventually magistrates used their powers to remand him.
