Man sent ex-partner abusive text messages

A spurned lover sent abusive text messages and telephone calls to his ex-partner after their relationship ended.

Shayne Gaudoin, 41, of Marina, Bexhill, pestered his victim for eight months.

Prosecutor Peter Bolwell said: "The victim received text messages and phone calls from the defendant following the break-up of their relationship.

"He had been with her for seven years.

"This led to bad feelings and this series of abusive text messages.

"They caused considerable distress to the aggrieved due to the nature of some of them."

Gaudoin appeared in court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to one charge of harassment.

The incidents happened between October last year and June 13 this year.

Aiden Harvey, defending, said: "While the messages were unpleasant, there was no threat of violence.

"The defendant intends to move to Cornwall and set up a new life in the very near future so he will be away from this area.

"Due to the breakdown of the relationship he started drinking heavily and started saying things which were highly inappropriate."

Deputy district judge Mark Jabbit gave Gaudoin a 12-month community order, ordered 50 costs, and imposed a two-year restraining order banning him from contacting his former partner.
