Mast plan clears hurdle

A mobile phone mast application has been backed by Hailsham Town Council.

Councillors voted unanimously to support T-Mobile's bid to install a 12.5m high timber-clad pole on land in Battle Road, close to the allotment site.

Three antennas, two dishes and two equipment cabinets could also be built.

Backing for the application comes after Wealden District Council refused to allow homes to be built on the site by Sussex Supported

The town council would receive 4,000 rent per year if the bid is successful and T Mobile would be liable for all costs.

A final decision will be made by the district council.
