More classes at Bognor Regis Music Centre

Bognor Regis Music Centre will be making a lot of noise on Thursdays from now on.

West Sussex County Council's music service is holding classes for young rockers and adults who want to learn something different.

A new rock academy has started at the centre in Felpham Community College for young people who want to improve their skills with coaching from expert musicians.

The sessions, from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, are for electric guitarists, vocalists, bass players, drummers and keyboard players of all abilities aged eight to 18. Cost is 38 per term.

To harmonise with the rock academy, the music centre is holding lessons for adults in the form of steel band classes and samba drumming, in a different room at the college.

The steel band classes are from 6.30pm-7.15pm, and the samba drumming from 7.15pm- 8pm. Each class costs 34 per term.

Peter Griffiths, West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Schools and Education, said: "West Sussex Music Service aims to offer a wide range of services for people of all ages, tastes and abilities.

"By joining a music club, you get to meet new people, and learn or develop a skill.

"Members of the rock academy will get to perform in a concert at the end of term in groups with people of the same ability.

"It's never too late to learn an instrument."
