More like eco-drown than eco-town?

CAMPAIGNERS say flooding in Ford on Monday demonstrated that part of a proposed eco-town development would be on the edge of a flood plain.

Communities Against Ford Eco-Town co-chairman Terry Knott said it 'rammed the message home' that it was not a suitable place to build a new town.

Mr Knott asked what would happen when the area was concreted over, and feared this could result in an enormous run-off of water.

He said the water in Ford Lane on Monday morning was halfway up to his knees. Other areas, such as the access road to the main Ford Road, which goes west into the middle of the proposed development, and the road leading from Ford to Yapton, were also affected.

Flooding also hit areas in Yapton and there was 12 to 18 inches of water outside the village's primary school.
