A motorcyclist died in a road accident in Battle yesterday evening (Saturday, May 14).

The 22-year-old crashed with a Ford Fiesta on Kane Hythe Road at around 6pm, police said.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Emergency services were called to the scene of a road traffic collision at around 6pm.

“A green Kawasaki motorcycle ridden by a local man, aged 22, was travelling south when it came into collision with a Ford Fiesta.

“Sadly the motorcyclist died at the scene.”

The driver of the Ford suffered minor injuries.

Police said the road was closed for four hours while officers from Sussex and Surrey Roads Policing examined the scene.

A 30-year-old man from London, arrested on suspicion of drug-driving and causing death by careless driving, has been bailed until August 26 pending further enquiries.

Sussex Police is appealing for witnesses. Contact 101 or email, quoting Operation Budget.
