FAMILY ADVENT SERVICE: A reminder that this Sunday, November 30th, is the Advent Carol Service which will be by candlelight at 5.00pm. There will be something for all ages with seasonal readings, some biblical as well as poetry and prose and a jolly good sing. Everybody welcome. (Remember to bring a torch.)

CHILDREN’S PARTY: A reminder also about this year’s Mountfield Christmas Party which will take place at Mountfield Village Hall on Saturday 13th December, from 4pm-6pm. All children living in the Parish of Mountfield of primary school age (0-11) are invited to this free party provided by the goodwill of the Village Hall Committee and the Parish Council. Additionally, any residents with grandchildren outside the village are welcome (for a small contribution). There will be traditional party games, a party tea, dancing and A Special Visitor! If you know of anyone with eligible children who has recently arrived in Mountfield, please either have a neighbourly word or mention it to Vicky. Most importantly, get your booking in. RSVP Vicky Staley on 01580 882147 or email Don’t delay!

LUNCH CLUB: Monday December 1st will be the next Lunch Club — usual place and usual time. As ever, please let Ruby know if you can go so that she can organise the numbers with Leeford Place.

MOUNTFIELD CLUB: The Club’s snooker team’s winning start to the season continued with a 3-2 win away at Burwash Common last week. There were wins for Steve Smith, Kevin Gray and Sean Spillett. The team have won seven out of their eight league matches and remain second in the league with a game in hand. This coming Saturday the Club is hosting a darts bulls eye event with prizes given to the winners. Entry fee will be £2.50 per person; all non-members are welcome for what is hoped to be a enjoyable evening. The Club’s grand Christmas prize draw is also going very well with many prizes to be won. Tickets are only £1.00 so please hurry and buy yours before they have all sold. More events will be announced soon.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING: Your Village Voices have just come back from holiday but, even while we were away, we managed to keep our finger on the local pulse for you. We picked up news of a very desirable local property which has come on the market. Haremere Hall at Etchingham is up for sale. You might expect it to have some astronomical price tag but actually it’s going for just £2 million. It would seem that this is because it needs a spot of renovation. The article we read helpfully suggested that “£1–2 million would probably go a long way to restoring the fabric” (translation: £1–2 million would not be enough) and then adds “with perhaps the same again needed to furnish it…” We are undecided.
