MP proud to support Littlehampton mentor service

PEOPLE who stand shoulder-to-shoulder with those struggling with mental health have been given their own support by Littlehampton’s MP.

Bognor Regis and Littlehampton MP Nick Gibb said he was “proud to represent” as patron the group of peer mentors at the Littlehampton Community Services base, when he visited last Friday.

Mr Gibb was shown around the facilities, in Maltravers Drive, by the volunteers who work at the centre, which is run by Worthing and Arun Mind.

The mentors are all people who have had first-hand experience of living with mental health problems and have overcome their difficulties to help support others facing similar problems.

Mr Gibb sat and listened to their personal accounts of their recovery from mental heath issues and the invaluable support they provide, on a daily basis, to others in need of help.

He praised the group for their work, saying: “They are truly inspirational and I am tremendously proud to become their patron. It is essential that we all work together to challenge prejudice as well as offer real support to isolated and vulnerable people in Littlehampton and the surrounding areas.”
