MP Greg Barker offered his congratulations to Etchingham Deli and Shop, winners of the UK and Ireland Start Up title in the Country Alliance Awards ceremony held at the House of Lords last Wednesday.
The Etchingham Deli and Shop was nominated for this award by its customers. The successful community-led enterprise managed by Neil and Sian Cotterill opened for business last May.
As well as the basics, the shop also supplies a wide variety of local produce including farm fresh fruit and veg, meats, bread, home-made foods and offers an extensive deli counter.
Mr Barker said: “I am absolutely delighted that I was able to personally congratulate Etchingham Deli and Shop after they won the UK and Ireland award best Start-Up in the Countryside Alliance Awards.
“This brilliant local enterprise is a real credit to Etchingham’s Community Interest Company that saved the village shop from closure and the managers Mr and Mrs Cotterill who have worked so hard to make this shop the heart of the local community.”
