Museum closed but busy raising funds

Bexhill Museum may be closed for refurbishment but there is still the opportunity to help raise much needed funds by attending one of their monthly coffee mornings, which are held on the first Thursday of each month at Parkhurst Hall, Parkhurst Road.

There might even be the opportunity to meet Town Mayor Cllr Paul Lendon who popped in; Bexhill Museum is important to Cllr Lendon as it is the Mayors charity.

Speaking of the coffee mornings he said: "Now that the museum is closed, it's a good way to keep people informed of all that's going on and to have a lovely cup of coffee."

Along with refreshments there was also the opportunity to buy some bargain books and delicious home-made cakes. Also at the coffee morning was the Museum's Head of Fund Raising, John Betts.

Explaining that the extensive refurbishment work will go on well into 2008, he said: "In theory it could open next December but I think it's more likely to open around January time with an official opening in the spring by our patron Eddie Izzard."
