New exhibition at Pallant House Gallery

Partners in Art is holding an exhibition from until March 10.

The award-winning learning and community programme provides opportunities for people with support needs to follow their interest in art by establishing creative partnerships.

“Partners in Art provides opportunities for people to access the art world on an equal footing, with a partner who shares their passion.

“The focus is on art, not people’s disability or support needs and for those involved is an important and, in many cases, life changing opportunity,” said Marc Steene, who helped found the scheme in 2002.

Partnerships are carefully selected to meet the needs and creative ambitions of both the volunteer and the referral partner.

Those taking part are encouraged to work together in an equal way with respect for the others’ creativity and interests. Meeting on a regular basis, partners typically create art together, visit exhibitions, take part in community art events or attend art classes.

The anniversary exhibition showcases a wide variety of work produced by some of the 200 participants who have been involved in the programme since its inception.
