BATTLE Chamber of Commerce elected a new president this week.
Alan Deeprose has lived in Battle for the past four-and-a-half years and runs the Bull Inn in the High Street with wife Kerri.
The couple are heavily involved in community events and Alan is the man behind the Battle Rocks music festival.
Alan said: “We try to be involved in everything.
“We sponsor a local cricket club, Kerri’s on the scarecrow committee, I have been on the scarecrow committee since I have been on the chamber and we support Battle as a whole.
“We like to think of the Bull Inn as a hub, rather than a pub.”
Alan says he will focus on promoting the High Street and tackling the thorny issue of parking in Battle.
He said: “I have a lot of visitors that stay at the Bull from all over the country and all over the world say to me how nice it is to see a High Street that’s open and all the diversity in all the shops.”
Alan was elected at a Chamber meeting on Monday and replaces previous president Dale Cromwell.
Dale was the youngest person ever to be elected as Battle Chamber president when he took on the role in 2011 aged just 24.
Dale is now vice president.
