New town guide set to pull in the tourists

Sun, sea and sand combine on the cover of the latest Bognor Regis town guide.

A total of 10,000 copies of the 2009 version of the must-have publication for tourists has been published by the town council.

Its 24 A5-sized pages contain everything a visitor to the town needs to know for their time beside the seaside.

Also included is a heritage trail by local historian Sylvia Endacott with 22 historical facts about the town centre.

The beach scene cover, painted by local artist Jean Hitchcock, perfectly captures the spirit of the resort.

Town council projects officer Paul Beckerson said: "The guide tells someone who has never been here before, where things are, what's going on and a map to help them get around. That's the sort of information you just wouldn't know about otherwise.

"It's not the sort of publication that's meant to inform people how to get a plumber or an electrician."

The guide cost the town council 1,500 and follows the tradition of many years of annual publications.
