The Conquest Hospital, Hastings, received £9,000 for a The Hamilton-T1 ventilator from Marshall-Tufflex.

Critical care service manager Pauline Simes said the ventilator will be ‘extremely useful’ when moving paediatric patients within the hospital and transferring them to different units.

“On behalf of the intensive care unit I would like to say a huge thank you to Marshall-Tufflex for the very generous donation, which has part-funded the new ventilator,” she said.

“Critically ill children are admitted to our unit every day to be ventilated and stabilised in readiness for the transfer to one of the London paediatric intensive care units.

“This new ventilator is an invaluable addition to our essential equipment and enables us to safely ventilate any child from a newborn to young adult.

“Thank you so much for your continued support to our unit.”

Marshal-Tufflex is a leading cable management manufacture and it has been a long time supporter of The Conquest Hospital.

The company’s latest donation of £9,000 enabled the hospital to purchase the Hamilton-T1 transport ventilator, which delivers intensive care standard ventilation for patients during transfers.

Last year the company made a similar donation to the critical care unit for the purchase of Nicom monitors which allow noninvasive monitoring of patients, transfer bags for use when moving patients and an ‘airway manikin’ to enable staff to practice intubation techniques.

The company’s joint consultative committee, a group of non-managerial representatives from around the business, decide which local causes will be supported each year via its work with Marshall-Tufflex in the community.

Committee representative Laurence Glaze helped hand the £9,000 cheque over to the hospital.
