Northiam NSPCC will be having an Open Garden and Afternoon Tea at Glebe House, Hastings Road from 2.30pm to 4.30pm today (Friday). Entry £4.

Badminton Coaching Sessions on Friday evenings are open to all at just £2.50 a session. This is a great opportunity to improve your game, so don’t miss the chance! There will be two sessions with Sheldon Chambers, a level 2 Badminton England Coach, with Under 12s at 6.30pm and Over 12s at 7.30pm.

Dance Club meets in the Village Hall at 7.30pm.

The School Summer Fayre will be on July 19th, 11am – 3pm on the school field, so do pop along and encourage our youngsters – and have a peek at their innovative nurture room, sensory garden and kitchen garden, as well as having a great time!

Northiam Bonfire Society invite you to their Open Gardens on Sunday, from 11am until 5pm. Our hosts’ gardens offer contrasts of large and small, established and new, with plenty of ideas for our own plots, or just the chance to enjoy other people’s skill and hard work. All five gardens are within walking distance of the surgery car park, and tickets will be on sale in the Church Centre, where you are invited to return for teas, a garden themed raffle and plant sales.

Coffee Stop opens each Wednesday between 10am and 12 noon in the Church Centre,

Northiam Seniors’ Club meets each Thursday in the Village Hall and this week will be learning about hedgerow herbs from Mrs Goodsell.

Northiam Chamber Orchestra practices in the Village Hall each Thursday at 7.30pm. If there are any musicians who would like to join – they would like to meet you!

They are a friendly, enthusiastic community orchestra playing a wide range of music from classical to modern and support a number of community events each year. Most notably, they will provide the music at the WW1 commemoration concert on August 2nd this year.

A Service of Commemoration of the start of World War I will be held in St Mary’s Church on Sunday 27th July at 10.30am. The Village Remembrance Exhibition will be held on Saturday 2nd August and Sunday 3rd August in the village hall – 10am to 4pm both days.

On the evening of Saturday 2nd August, the village will be holding a Commemorative Remembrance Concert in the village hall, an opportunity to come together to respect and remember those who fought for their country. The evening has a full and varied programme and will include the reading of contemporaneous poems and letters, and the singing of songs from the period.
