Northiam

Remembrance: This is a special year, commemorating 100 years since the end of the Great War, and there will be a weekend of remembrance 9-11th November.

There will be an exhibition in the Village Hall on Friday 1-5pm and Saturday 10-5. Teas and coffee will be served by the WI, so do spend some time studying the displays. On Sunday, the Remembrance Service in St Mary’s starts at 10am, moving to the War Memorial for 11am, when flowers will be laid in memory of the Northiam WWI casualties. Let’s hope there won’t be the usual noisy traffic racing past!

On Sunday afternoon there will be a (free) concert in the Village Hall starting at 3pm featuring readings, poetry and music. Once again we are privileged to have renowned soprano Tomasin Trezise accompanied by Northiam Chamber Orchestra. The weekend will close with the lighting of the beacon at 7pm as part of a national commemoration marking the end of the First World War, followed by the ringing of church bells.
