OAPs hurt in buggy crash

AN elderly lady was taken to hospital after a mobility scooter and her bicycle collided.

The 79-year-old woman was treated for deep cuts to both legs after the incident on Friday lunchtime in Newland Road, Worthing.

The accident happened when an 89-year-old man on the scooter was using the pedestrian crossing near to the Broadwater road junction.

He was behind the cyclist, who was also using the crossing. The pair collided and the lady fell from her bike. Police said her legs were then run over by the scooter.

The man was uninjured and returned home shortly afterwards.
