BATTLE Police were out in force this week, targeting school run parents as part of a seatbelt awareness campaign.
A number of parents were caught not wearing their seatbelts although, thankfully, all their children were belted up.
The police said the number of people caught not wearing seatbelts was lower than expected, but the fact that anyone in this day and age still goes driving without one is mind-boggling.
And what a terrible example to set to your child.
Hopefully a brush with the law will help instill a bit of common sense and help prevent those parents from becoming a statistic.
HOT on the heels of Battle’s ever-successful scarecrow festival comes the inaugural Battle Arts Trail, starting tomorrow.
Some highly-acclaimed artists will be exhibiting their creations around the town alongside art work from school children and local community groups.
The art trail could be an excellent opportunity to help pull visitors into the town as the flurry of summer tourists fades away.
So as Battle once again shows it’s creative side, grab a trail map and explore the weird and wonderful on the Abbey Green, High Street and lurking in the shadows.
Lets just hope the weather stays kind...
