Amber commented, “I was inspired by this year’s flower and vegetable competition. There was so much variety on show and huge amount of talent displayed! From beautiful flower arrangements to prize winning onions, it was a tremendous competition, and I was honoured to present the awards. People were winning awards for the best jams and chutneys, to best baked cakes through to flower arranging and the traditional vegetable heats – a real variety.”

This year’s competition included a live potato weighing that saw the winner take away the prize with a bunch that came in at over 5 pounds. After the awards ceremony, the flowers from the competition were auctioned off to raise funds for the Fairlight Gardeners Club.

“I would like to thank all those who helped to organise this competition, especially Carol Ardley and Susan Clarke who did a fantastic job at helping me to award the prizes. Susan also did a brilliant job at conducting the auction bring real energy and enthusiasm to it. It was a great afternoon for everyone, and I was very impressed with the way it was conducted. Throughout there was good humour and laughs to be had. Well done to all for a fantastic afternoon, and best of luck to everyone for the 2015 Fairlight Flower and Vegetable competition,” said Amber.
